WPPI 2011

I loved Vegas while I was there attending the WPPI (Wedding & Portrait Photographers International) event of the year. Most of the top photographers in the country were there to provide their insight on the world of photography. It was definitely an experience that provided inspiration and motivation to continually improve the work I already do, yet strive for more. While I didn't get to photograph too much while I was out there, I did get to meet and chat with one of the best in the industry, Jasmine Star.

I already miss WPPI, but looking forward to it next year!

The Aftermath

It was ugly this week, getting hit with thundersnow. The roads were horrific. In what normally takes 10 minutes to get to the metro station (6 miles away)... took 2 hours! Add in there a four-month old child crying in the backseat on and off for that ride and you can imagine the type of stress I had to go through to get a whopping 6 miles. The drive back? Not so bad... just another hour and a half...

For as ugly as the week turned out to be and for as many times I cursed my decision to move back here from the Bay Area, I can't pass up the four seasons and how awesome things can look after mother nature settles down.

Sitting on the Dock of the Bay

I recently made my way back to San Francisco, a place I called home for few years back in the early 2000s. Sometimes it's hard to realize what you miss until you leave (cliche, right?). Having moved back to the Washington DC area and now going back to the Bay Area this time around provided me an opportunity to revisit some of the familiar sites I knew and loved, but with a different eye this time and a camera in hand.

Sailing Across the Mediterranean

I managed to break away recently to take a trip to the Mediterranean. It was an amazing trip that opened my eyes to some of the most historical sites in the world. While I only had a small taste of some of these sites, I definitely plan to make my way back to Europe soon to see even more sites that I missed this time around. Here are some pictures I was able to snap along the way. BTW - the cat pictures in this post were of a stray in Santorini (not Elmo!)...

Fun in the Sun

When I was younger, it was a yearly summer tradition to head to Rehoboth Beach, Delaware for the week with my family. I remember packing weeks in advance in my excitement to build sand castles, eat boardwalk fries, and of course, play tons of carnival games. As we grew older, it became harder to get us together to go. Luckily this summer, we were able to sneak away for a long weekend to revisit a place we had so many fond memories of. Hopefully this time around, the kids were able to create some memories of their own, in hopes of carrying on a tradition of ours. It's always good to have a photographer around, right?

Jonathan and Company

It still amazes me how small babies can be, even at close to 5 months. Jonathan has so many facial expressions, so you never really know what he's thinking, but you do know he's happy to have people around him, giving him tons of attention. I've had the joy of watching my nieces and nephews grow up over the years and still amazed they started out so small...

Meet Elmo

Meet Elmo. No, not the red Sesame Street character. Elmo, my cat. He's probably the laziest cat I know, but he's also the nicest cat I know. The pictures here are so typical of Elmo on any given day, which makes it easy to photograph him. It won't be the last time I post him. And yes... he's cross-eyed.

Montgomery County Fair

I can't recall the last time I attended a county fair. Yesterday was probably the first time in over 10 years that I've attended the Montgomery County Fair in Gaithersburg, MD. Things have certainly changed since I last went, but some things still stay the same - cotton candy, carnival games, farm animals, and of course the ferris wheel. Thankfully, I had my camera to take photographs of this Maryland tradition.
