The Aftermath

It was ugly this week, getting hit with thundersnow. The roads were horrific. In what normally takes 10 minutes to get to the metro station (6 miles away)... took 2 hours! Add in there a four-month old child crying in the backseat on and off for that ride and you can imagine the type of stress I had to go through to get a whopping 6 miles. The drive back? Not so bad... just another hour and a half...

For as ugly as the week turned out to be and for as many times I cursed my decision to move back here from the Bay Area, I can't pass up the four seasons and how awesome things can look after mother nature settles down.

Engagement: Patrick & Tracey

Patrick and Tracey share many loves... from kickball, to the Penn State Nittany Lions and Pittsburgh Steelers, to the various Washington DC Area sports teams, to The Jersey Shore, and of course beer. All of these pieces have brought together Patrick and Tracey to this moment - their wedding. As they prepared for the wedding, we took some time out on a Saturday morning to take some photographs.

The wedding will bring to together all of the loves above. From the unique venue (The Barns a Wolf Trap), their surprise first dance, to the custom wedding favors, or to a patented fist pump, the wedding is sure to be a memorable one. Congratulations again Patrick and Tracey!

Engagement: Sean & Shauna

I had the opportunity to photograph Sean and Shauna's engagement session in Washington, DC. We focused our time on the National Mall, highlighting the Lincoln Memorial. As Sean transitioned from casual clothing to his Army uniform, I realized it would be my first time photographing a soldier in uniform. I learned quite a bit about certain protocol and etiquette with soldiers when it comes to taking photographs.

Besides growing up in Maryland, Sean and I share one big thing in common... playing Call of Duty on the XBOX. Even more impressive was hearing how Shauna actually likes playing the game with him and watching! I tried to talk my wife into obtaining this perk, but failed miserably. While it's great to hear about the men and women who fight for our freedom daily, it's even better to meet one in person and hear some of their stories to truly appreciate the job they do for us.

Family: Johnny & Evelyn

I'm still amazed at how my life has been flipped upside-down with the birth of my first child. I never listened to any of my friends' advice to get sleep, to have more structure, etc. It was always in one ear and out the other. Well... I have certainly learned my lesson. I miss my sleep, but I'm so busy with my son, that I don't have a chance to really miss it. The adjustment has been so tough, but I'm back to the blog!

Johnny and Ev asked me to photograph them in late Fall, along with their daughter, Addie. As I met them for the shoot, I suddenly realized that we had met a long while back and even had some friends in common. Addie was absolutely adorable. From running around at the playground, to dressing up as a ladybug (Halloween), there was always a smile on her face (courtesy of her playful parents).
